PROFILE - SHORT DESCRIPTION

Maritime University of Szczecin is a public, technical university the history of which dates back to 1947. Three faculties (Navigation, Marine Engineering, and Faculty of Engineering and Economics of Transport) offer education to 4000 students within 9 BSc programmes (+1 in English),4 MSc,and 3 PhD. MUS offers also 8 non-degree postgraduate programmes, and numerous vocational courses and trainings. Our mission is to educate highly qualified marine crew i.e.navigators and mechanical engineers who perfectly cater for the needs of passenger, merchant and fishing fleets as well as on-shore staff prepared to use modern IT solutions to efficiently process and manage data in the transport-forwarding-logistics industry. The University boasts over 100 well-equipped laboratories, a modern research-training ship - the m/s Nawigator XXI and 16 most technically advanced simulators such as: Ship Handling, LNG Training Centre, Anti-Collision ARPA, Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS), Satellite Communication System - GMDSS, Cargo Handling, Fishing etc.They make our University one of the best-equipped maritime universities in the world. Moreover, MUS has been actively participating in numerous international projects which resulted in acquiring state-of-the-art research and didactic infrastructure, as well as in researching into most pressing, maritime- and transport- related issues (between 2007-2015 the value of MUS projects amounted to ca.20 MEUR).
