Description:

The 21st century is an era of intensive development and change in communication media. Computer science and new media technologies, as well as availability of multiple carriers, have resulted in effacing borders between authors, designers and publishers. In the world of integrated media, the role of information and communication designer has shifted considerably.

Content creators, researchers and analysts are frequently forced to single-handedly design publications, and produce IT tools in order to adjust the form of presentation to recipients' needs. A contemporary designer, working in the multimedia world, is often responsible for both verbal and visual aspect of a message. They should, therefore, utilise theoretical knowledge on history and methods of communication, by means of various media, IT knowledge and skills to program their own tools, as well as knowledge and abilities in the area of design to help them communicate with recipients.

The offer of Polish tertiary institutions has not yet included this sort of program, and these studies are of unique character in Poland. They offer a merge of knowledge and practical skills within separate areas of exact sciences, humanities and art. At the same time, a graduate shapes social awareness and ability of working in a team, as well as develop a sense of integration within their discipline. Graduates are prepared to work for various users in the open international and virtual communication environment. What’s more, the combination of verbal and visual narration, sound, motion, as well as various traditional and generative technologies, serves to make knowledge accessible and reach any type of user. The innovative approach towards information designers' role in the era of integrated media enables the creation of legible communications, ready to be published on every existing personal device for all social groups.
