Description:

Computer Science, Master's degree, Full-time

What distinguishes Computer Science in PJAIT?

Learning computer science through practice

An important element of education in the field of study Computer Science is the development of practical skills that allow graduates to effectively apply the knowledge they have gained in practice. The study program takes into account practical projects and laboratories, and the university's cooperation with top technology companies in Poland, allows students to gain experience in internships already during their studies. As a result, computer science students can gain experience in real IT problems and learn teamwork, which prepares them to function effectively in the rapidly changing job market of the future.

The future of computing today

The program of study at computer science at PJAIT not only introduces students to the latest artificial intelligence (AI) tools, but more importantly prepares them for the professions of the future - being leaders in shaping innovation in IT. Coding and programming skills are more valuable than ever, but traditional mathematical knowledge like algebra, differential and integral calculus and statistics is also crucial to understanding advanced AI techniques. Specializing in specific areas of the IT industry allows for a wide selection of specialized areas in the second or third year of study.

Computer Science is a rapidly developing discipline, and its progress has had a huge impact on many scientific disciplines. As an exact and technical science, it deals with information processing, including information processing technologies and technologies for manufacturing information processing systems. Any well-constructed curriculum should maintain a balance between the fundamentals necessary to understand the fundamental concepts in the discipline and modern applications or fascinating, world-changing technologies. A distinguishing feature of the educational concept in PJAIT is the clear division of learning outcomes into two categories: those of a fundamental nature, related to the acquisition of general IT knowledge, and those related to specific competencies.

Computer Science is the field of study with the longest tradition at PJAIT; it was the first field of study at the university, which was established in 1994. The Faculty of Computer Science, established only in 2005, is the largest and most dynamically developing unit of the university. The dynamics of the faculty's development is evidenced by the number of students - in 1994, 90 students began their studies, and now there are 5,500.

The tradition and development of the Department of Computer Science at PJAIT are not only the foundations of the university's history, but also reflect the dynamic development of the field of computer science as a whole. Its evolution from its inception to its current scale and number of students is undeniable evidence of the growing importance of the field in society.

Specialized areas

The choice of specialized area is made in the second year of full-time studies or in the third year of part-time studies. Students decide on the choice of area by filling out a questionnaire. Each student is required to choose one area within which to continue their studies. Students who would like to opt for two areas at the same time should indicate their choice in the survey. Information about the survey and the time for its completion is provided to students annually. Once its time is up, it is not possible to change the decision.

AREAS:

  • Data Science
  • Software, business process and database engineering
  • Mobile device network and cloud computing technologies
  • Interactive multimedia
