Photonics belongs to EU Key Enabling Technolgies of the 21st century with strong impact in almost every aspect of our lives. Photonics is of great importance in many industrial sectors and areas that use photonic technology for research, data- and telecommunication, business, education, security and defense, imaging, sensing, medicine, process control, biotechnology, energy, etc. It causes that scientists and well-trained engineers in Photonics are currently in high demand.
Graduates from Photonics represent excellent knowledge in mathematics, physics, electronics, information technologies and have high level of qualifications to work for various institutions. During their studies they are provided with a wealth of interesting and challenging opportunities what gives them a rise to a wide variety of career paths from basic research, project management, designing, applied engineering and manufacturing.
Faculty of Physics cooperates with numerous national and international partners, allowing thus for an access to the broad and complementary range of photonics expertise, design software, as well as fabrication and characterization facilities. Students are given the unique opportunity to participate in current research projects realized at the Faculty. Most of the master thesis projects are realized in various research laboratories.
