The Faculties of Geology and Chemistry of the University of Warsaw take the initiative of creating joint Master Studies in English entitled

Applied Petroleum Geosciences. Analysis of the educational market in Poland and abroad and the scientific potential of both units have allowed for the delineation of the studies programme and its educational effects. It has been assumed that the studies profile supplements the educational offer in Poland and may be attractive for students both from Poland and abroad.

Offering this degree course to international students is an important element of the developmental strategy of the University of Warsaw. The offered course Applied Petroleum Geosciences is a response to the developing market of exploration industry of hydrocarbons, including shale gas, as well as other energetic and mineral resources. The studies will assure thorough geological and chemical knowledge and prepare its graduates to undertake jobs and research in the widely understood field of petroleum geology. The studies are both specialized and interdisciplinary, which upgrades them with regard to the integration of geological data. The educational process will include wide utilization of expert knowledge based on invited specialists from the petroleum and chemical industries. Graduates of the Master Course Applied Petroleum Geosciences at the Faculties of Geology and Chemistry of the University of Warsaw are well prepared to undertake jobs in the petroleum extraction industry, exploration and consulting companies, environmental protection, water management as well as scientific, research and educational institutions.
