Polish Naval Academy

The Institute of International Relations conducts studies in international relations. First-cycle and second-cycle studies utilize research potential shared by teaching staff and embedded into maritime profile of the Naval Academy. Such combination allows us to educate specializations towards understanding determinants that shape the international security domain and the changes occurring within it. This seems to be particularly important in a dynamic and unpredictable world where governments, economy and service providers need civil servants understanding the modern world and factors shaping it. Moreover, the Institute launched a practical profile during the second-cycle studies - which we regard as unique in the state – where students acquire knowledge, skills and competence in practice to prepare them for design work, formulation of opinions and analyses dealing with international issues as well as development of soft skills, particularly valued by employers. Within the practical profile, the quality of education project is being implemented, where the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences has received funds from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education competition.

            Responding to the current labour market, the Institute develops a new course, namely Military System of Public Service. New students will be admitted in the academic year 2014/2015. As such, it has been decided to attempt a unique solution. The Institute - as the first university in Poland - intends to educate candidates for jobs in the defence sector and local and central administrations. The combination of the military domain and public service system will enable future graduates smooth operations not only in administration but also in the wider public safety and companies cooperating with it. The undertaken measures lead to the continuous development of our staff, both in teaching and research domain, which will finally end up in the transformation of the Institute of International Relations into the Institute of International Affairs and Defence.
