Description:

If you already have a BA in English or if you hold a diploma in any other language and can prove your skills in English with a certificate of proficiency at the C1 CEFR level (7 IELTS or 85 TOEFL IBT), consider exploring English language literature, culture, and linguistics at one of the best research universities in Poland. From the very beginning of these two-year-long studies, you will be encouraged to specialize in either Editing and Publishing, Translation Studies (where practical  command of Polish is required) or Teaching English as a Foreign Language (where, again, working knowledge of Polish is required) or a combination of two out of the three specializations.

Each program offers unique specialization courses. Editing and Publishing addresses the latest developments in copy-editing, textual scholarship, and both digital and desktop publishing, with emphasis on Anglophone book and magazine analysis. Translation Studies are oriented at the development of translation and interpreting skills and the exploration of translation theory. Teaching English as a Foreign Language will provide you with the theory, practical skills, and formal qualifications necessary to teach in (Polish) schools at all levels (primary, secondary, tertiary). Apart from attending program-specific classes, you will also participate in elective seminars in literature, culture, and linguistics, as well as in obligatory Academic English courses, Business English classes, and the Translation Lab, or - if you do not speak our language - in Polish for Foreigners.

On completion of the study program, you will obtain your MA diploma and will have gained thorough knowledge and skills within the specialization field of your choice. You will achieve productive skills at the C1+ CEFR level, while the skills, knowledge and social competence acquired will give you an advantage in translation and interpreting, copy-editing, tourism, corporate services, public relations, marketing, advertising, and business communication. If you are planning to become a scholar, you will be able to continue English Studies in our PhD program.
