Third Edition of the Educational Fair in New York

On Sunday, 23 March, the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in New York hosted the Third Edition of the Educational Fair.

The Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in New York, the Polish Supplementary School Council of America and the “Manko” Association, in cooperation with Jozef Pilsudski Institute in New York, the Polish Student Organization and the New York branch of the Polish American Congress organized the 3rd Edition of the Educational Fair. The event was organized under the honorary patronage of prof. Lena Kolarska-Bobinska, Minister of Science and Higher Education.

The Fair was attended by approximately 100 people, which shows an increase compared to last year's edition. Many prospective students motivated their decisions on a difficult economic situation in the United States and high tuition fees. - The average annual cost of studying in Poland amounts to 3,000 EUR (around $4,000), whereas the annual tution fees at a state university in America are more than $15,000. - said Łukasz Salwarowski from the Manko Association, one of the organizers of the fair. Benefits of studying in Poland in the context of EU membership were also pointed out. Some declared their committment to Poland and Polish tradition, and thus the intention to return to the homeland.

The Third Edition of Educational Fair were opened with the presentation prepared by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education on educational opportunities in Poland. The Fair was composed of three areas – “Ready, Study, GO! Poland”, “Visit Poland” and “Get Well in Poland”. The first area gave the attendees an opportunity to talk to university representatives from such renowned schools as: the Jagiellonian University, the Silesian Medical University of Katowice, the Medical University of Lublin, the Medical University of Białystok and the Białostok University of Technology. Website www.go-poland.pl was also promoted during the Fair.

Increasing interest in studying in Poland is observed in the recent years, not only in the fields of medical sciences that have already been enjoying a high reputation in the North America, but also in the area of humanities, engineering, economic and social sciences.
