Jarosław Gowin on Monday took over as head of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, replacing Lena Kolarska-Bobińska. "I will try to continue all valuable initiatives" - announced the new minister.
On Monday, by President Andrzej Duda appointed Jarosław Gowin as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Science and Higher Education in Beata Szydło’s government.
On Monday after 3:30 PM, during the ceremony of handover of the ministry, Jarosław Gowin met with the previous leadership of the ministry, including Minister Lena Kolarska-Bobińska. "I will certainly try to continue all valuable initiatives, because the minister and her employees achieved a lot in the ministry. I will also try to be a worthy successor of my predecessor, and in some cases even go one step further. I think that if I succeed, you will certainly be very happy" - said Gowin.
The outgoing minister replied: "Surely you will go much further, because both science and universities are our common good, common goal. Together we have to do everything in our power to develop them even more".
Kolarska-Bobińska gave Gowin the summary of the projects carried out by the ministry in recent years and the program of development of science and higher education for the coming years. As she said, these were proposals, which the new minister might want to use.
Introducing the ministry leadership to Gowin, she said that "each of the deputy ministers prepared a list of issues that they would like to mention, that are particularly important".
The new Minister of Science expressed the hope that he would yet meet again with Kolarska-Bobińska to discuss matters concerning the ministry.
Handover of the ministry on Monday was not Jaroslaw Gowin’s first meeting with Lena Kolarska-Bobińska. The politicians - according to the outgoing minister - met last Friday. One of the topics discussed was the ministry.
