Jagiellonian University in THE World University Rankings by Subject 2024

In late October, Times Higher Education published the latest edition of the annual World University Rankings by Subject. The Jagiellonian University was included in ten out of eleven categories, while taking leading positions amongst Polish universities in seven of them.

According to the organisers, THE World University Ranking by Subject is based on the same criteria as the more general THE World University Ranking, but it takes into account achievements in disciplines relevant to each of the eleven fields. Institutions are assessed based on 18 carefully calibrated performance indicators that measure an institution’s performance across five areas: teaching (learning environment), research environment (size, research revenues and reputation), research quality (citation impact, research strength), industry (knowledge transfer, industrial revenues and patents, and international outlook (staff, students and research).

This year's edition of the ranking prepared by the British magazine Times Higher Education includes 1,904 universities from 108 countries. Exact places are awarded only to the first hundred, the remaining participants are placed in brackets ranging from several to several dozen institutions. The Jagiellonian University was classified in ten out of eleven categories (excluding Engineering):

Arts and Humanities: 301–400 bracket
Business and Economics: 501–600 bracket
Clinical and Health: 401–500 bracket
Computer Science: 601–800 bracket
Education: 301–400 bracket
Law: 126–150 bracket
Life Sciences: 401–500 bracket
Physical Sciences: 601–800 bracket
Psychology: 401–500 bracket
Social Sciences: 501–600 bracket
