Foreign Secondary School Certificate

Competition on the basis of secondary school certificate  – the result of the written test is scored on the two of the following subjects: mathematics, biology, chemistry, physics. Each subject is 50% of the final result.

An applicant while registering is also required to submit one of the documents confirming English proficiency at level B2 (see the list of English B2 Certificates).

OR International Baccalaureate Diploma /European Baccalaureate Diploma

Description: 

The Biotechnology programme offers the choice between two specialisations:

  • Biotechnology medical
  • Biotechnology nutrition and food

Compulsory work placements:

  •     compulsory work placements (130 h) in industrial plants, laboratories, research centres or other institutions.

Studies prepare for:

taking up a job as a: biotechnologist, microbiologist, biochemist, geneticist, biologist, laboratory analyst, laboratory technician, quality assurance specialist, specialist for drug registration in industrial research centres that use biotechnology processes, in research, control and diagnostic laboratories, pharmaceutical companies, plant breeding stations, institutions for public economics, environmental protection agencies and departments of natural resources management, etc.

Professional skills: Knowledge in biochemistry and biology, laboratory techniques and research tools.

Practical skills:

  • ability to operate laboratory equipment (e.g. application of chromatography and spectrophotometry techniques, radiometric tests and microscopes)
  • ability to prepare expert’s opinion in the field of chemistry, biochemistry and biology
  • conducting basic cell and tissue culture
  • conducting analysis enabling to evaluate basic immunological parameters
  • possesses practice necessary to work in research laboratories
  • planning and knowledge of building production lines
  • possibility to acquire additional skills in courses and workshops on issues of advanced chromatographic techniques, flow cytometry and quality control and internal audit
