Strolling around Wrocław with NAWA Digital Ambassador, Grace Awhobiwom Abu

Welcome to Wrocław, a city that is known for its unique charm, magnificent architecture and vibrant colours. It is one of the largest academic centres in Poland and a home to 130 thousand of students from 31 universities.
Today, our Digital Ambassador Grace who is currently studying at Wrocław University Technology, will take you around to her favourite places in the city. Are you ready? Let's go!

The first sightseeing place that everybody should visit is Wrocław market square (Polish: rynek). Rynek is located in the heart of the city, it is filled with a line-up of beautiful buildings. It’s always busting with life, during the weekends or at evenings as you will get to see magic tricks, musicians perform, landmarks. Not to forget that the best pictures in Wrocław were taken here. During World War II, the market square was damaged, the beautiful buildings that we see today is the result of post-war's restoration.

Next destination is Centennial Hall, a must-see historical building while you are in Wrocław. The opening of the hall was to commemorate the 100th anniversary from the battle of Leipzig. Just behind the hall, there is a musical fountain that illuminated at night.

The summer in Poland can be really hot, let's have a picnic and hide under the shades in Japanese Garden (Polish: Ogród Japoński) in Wrocław! Ogród Japoński is an exotic garden located close to the centennial hall.  The garden has existed since 1913, although the garden was ravaged by the flood in 1997. This garden filled with over 78 species of Asian plants and decorated with the touch of Japanese Architecture. This Japanese Garden is one of the most beautiful gardens in Wrocław.

If you are interested with treasure hunting, join Grace to spot the famous Wrocław's little gnomes that scattered around the city! Each gnome representing the place where you find them. If you find a group of gnomes that appear to be in an orchestra, it means you are at the National Forum of Music. FYI, gnomes actually have an important place in the city’s history. It was a form of peaceful, yet subversive protest as a response to the oppression of the communist regime in the 1980s.

Wrocław is also known as the city of bridges. It has over 130 bridges and the water underneath those bridges is Odra river, it flows across the city. You can enjoy the romantic Wrocław's sunset by visiting any of the bridges.

Cyberpunk 2077 themed street? Yes! It is Ruska 46 street, known as the street with Neon bulbs. This is the brightest backyard in Wrocław, and it is completely lit by neon lights. With live bands and bars right around the corner, this is the place that you should definitely visit with your friends in the evenings.

So, are you planning to attend a university in Wrocław this fall? ??‍?
